I am Dr. Nidia Karen Castillón Benavides, I completed my medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit. I completed my specialization in Pediatrics at the ISSEMyM Maternal and Child Hospital, a course endorsed by the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, and I am certified by the Mexican Council of Pediatrics. I completed my subspecialty in Allergology and Immunology at the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases “Ismael Cosío Villegas,” and I am certified by the National Council of Clinical Immunology and Allergy. I obtained my Master's degree in Health Sciences with a specialization in Immunology from the Higher School of Medicine of the National Polytechnic Institute.
My specialty focuses on the treatment of allergic diseases as well as alterations in the immune system or defenses. By identifying the type of allergy, immunotherapy (allergy vaccines) can be offered, which will modify the natural course of allergic diseases, aiming to develop tolerance and thus improve the quality of life and prevent new allergic diseases. The maturation of the immune system is achieved as growth progresses. In certain situations, we encounter alterations in the function and number of cells responsible for mounting an immunological response, which leads to the diagnosis of primary or secondary immunodeficiencies.
I have attended and presented at national and international congresses, and I also have experience in teaching activities, which allows me to stay updated and engaged in continuous medical education to provide the best care to my patients.
