I got my veneers done in August, and I purposely waited 4 months before writing this review cause I didn’t want to react out of emotion. I wanted to be fair. I traveled from Washington, DC for this treatment. Dr. Alejandro Hoyos is extremely confident, friendly, and talented at placing veneers. For that part alone, I would give him 10/10. But I do not believe he is the right dentist for patients with complications or complex dental histories. His skills seem strongest in basic veneer placement, not in cases that require deeper evaluation. On my first visit, after greeting I was immediately handed papers to sign without being asked if I had concerns. I actually had to pause and say, “Before I sign this, I have questions.” I shared everything with him—my traumatic orthodontic experience in DC, the 6 extractions I had including my canines that been removed unnecessarily & how much it damaged my confidence. I truly thought he understood me. so the first visit felt good. The first time the veneers were placed, the result was beautiful and had no spaces. He also did a gingivectomy before the veneers but allowed only 2 days of healing, which caused a lot of pain, but I pushed through because I wanted a beautiful smile. When I left his office, I was happy. The real issue started when I returned to DC. After about 3 weeks, I noticed gaps forming btn the veneers and my natural teeth. I sent him photos and asked if this was normal. He told me it was not. That is when everything started to fall apart. I asked, “Don’t I need retainers or a mouth guard?” He said that was only for patients who had orthodontic treatment. I was shocked because I had told him multiple times about my orthodontic history—that was the entire reason I wanted veneers. That response made me realize he may not have fully remembered or understood my case, even though I explained it over and over. I have screenshots of our conversations, which I’m grateful for. He eventually told me to fly back so he could fix it. This caused a huge inconvenience for me. I am a hairstylist, and I had to leave my clients unexpectedly. Many of my clients were excited about my veneers and were even planning to travel to him based on my first results. After everything that happened, they became hesitant. When I returned, the clinic covered hotel and transportation, and I paid for my flight, which I didn’t mind. But when I walked in, the first thing he asked was, “Where are you coming from?” That moment said a lot about how little of my case was remembered. He replaced one veneer and placed wire retainers on only the upper front four teeth. He told me to use them for two years. After returning home again, the same gap came back on the same tooth he fixed. My bite feels off, my lips shift when I talk, and it feels almost like a tooth is missing because some words don’t come out properly. That area still bleeds when I floss and stays sensitive and swollen. My general dentist in DC now has to take 3D X-rays to figure out what is happening underneath these veneers. That means more money, more time, and more stress for me. For anyone considering dental work abroad: think very carefully. It is not always worth the risk. If something goes wrong, traveling back is not easy. Yes, dental care in the U.S. is expensive, but there are payment plans, proper documentation, and systems that ensure follow-up. Multiple U.S. dentists told me I only needed 10 veneers (upper teeth). I regret getting 20. My lower teeth did not need veneers—that was my decision, but I wish he would have guided me better. Another thing patients should know: they do not keep detailed patient records. Most communication is done through Instagram messages or WhatsApp. Every time you visit, you have to remind them of your own case. Also, whether you are satisfied or not, they do not offer a refund—not even partial. There is no guarantee they will continue helping you until the problem is truly resolved. This is my honest experience, and I hope it helps someone who is researching and trying to make the best decision.

Wonderful results, wonderful experience! I got porcelain veneers, and they look just like real teeth. Going out of the country for dental work seems like it would be a little intimidating, but Dr. Hoyos and his team made it so easy and comfortable. They arranged hotel accommodations at a lovely hotel in a great location convenient to restaurants and shopping. All transportation to and from the airport, as well as from the hotel to the office, was included, and the drivers were fantastic. I'm so glad I chose to make this change, my new smile has made me much more confident! My veneers are shade 1M1, which is the lightest naturally occurring tooth shade.
